Big, sad, shocked eyes just stared at me as I explained this in a less than calm voice to my daughters.
It was 9pm and we had just returned to our temporary home (Oma and Opa's house while ours is getting remodeled) after watching the Homecoming Queen getting crowned at the Homecoming half-time. I had all three kids because Chris was staying to help wrap-up the raffle prize distribution at the football game. When we walked in the house I saw our dog staring at us through the back door. He's supposed to be in his pen so I guessed that he broke out, and rather than go outside and try to deal with that situation while also trying to get 3 very tired kids to bed, I decided that Chris could deal with putting the dog securely back in the yard when he got home. I let the dog in the back door and some of the plastic containers from the recycling that he'd demolished in his free time came tumbling in with him. The kids were super excited that the dog was in the entry way because he isn't allowed in the house -so maybe I didn't think that one the whole way through.
To contain the dog and the kids, I let them give him treats while I closed off doors so the dog couldn't roam. That task complete I sent the kids off to the bathroom to brush their teeth and get ready for bed. As I was filling a bowl of water for the dog, Addie came running into the kitchen, "Mommy, mommy, come quick and look at what happened to the bed!!" The girls had "made" their bed this morning by decorating it with almost every toy that lives in their room so I wasn't overly concerned, guessing that their brother had moved some of their babies.
Instead I walked into their bedroom to discover Wyatt's converted toddler bed/crib at a 45 degree angle. I immediately asked who moved the bed and they each swore they didn't do it. I tried the window and, sure enough, it wasn't locked and slid open easily. I told them to go back to the dog right away, and it was here where I grilled them about WHO MOVED THE BED??!! Each was adamant that they were not the culprit, and then Nora and Addie suggested, "It MUST have been PETER PAN!!"
Needing to cut right thorough that little game I suggested to them that Peter Pan wouldn't need to move the bed, instead he'd fly over it. NOPE! Peter Pan must have moved the bed, they insisted!! After two or three rounds of this I couldn't take it anymore, I had to tell them, "PETER PAN IS NOT REAL! I need to know RIGHT NOW if one of you moved the bed, because if you didn't then a bad person could have and I need to know NOW and I'm telling you it was NOT Peter Pan!!" There were tears (bonus points for keeping your cool Mom-of-the-year) and the dog was shoved out one door, and the kids out the other (they aren't that far apart). Chris wasn't answering his phone, or his texts, and my father-in-law was announcing at the game. Not knowing what to do, because I still wasn't sure one of the kids didn't do it, or that some other family member hadn't, I set off in the vehicle and started dialing numbers. After every single one of the numbers I called failed to answer I decided to call the police. The dispatcher was awesome and the two police men who pulled up to the house right in front of my husband (who finally looked at his phone during the homecoming game) were amazing as well. I gave them all the details and I explained that I wasn't sure if there was a situation or not, but that I wasn't willing to hang out with three kids to decide. They assured it is was no problem, and I'd done the right thing - better safe than sorry! They checked through the house (no small task considering we have boxes from our house in just about every room!) and didn't see anything. We went through the house and everything that you'd expect a thief to take was still there. Then they checked the back yard, and it was all clear there as well. The screen was even on the window in question so I felt confident and comfortable that one of the girls was telling a story (as opposed to a considerate thief who would replace a screen). I asked one of the officers poke his head into the car where the kids were watching a video and he very nicely talked to them and explained that they needed to tell their Mommy the truth, and they could do so when he left but it was important to tell the truth. They drove away and I went through the kids one more time. Another round of adamant denials from Nora and Addie, and then Wyatt...my sweet innocent, loving, tender, momma's boy, Wyatt quietly said..."yes, I moved the bed." My jaw dropped. Still not completely believing my 2 year old, I asked him to show me how he did it. Sure enough, he marched right into the room, grabbed the corner post and started yanking.
AAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!! And HE WAS my good kid!! He pouted the rest of the time we were getting him ready for bed, and I'm hoping he understands it's important to tell the truth right away. I'm just happy to report that the window's locked, everything is safe and secure, and MAYBE my daughters will believe me tomorrow when I apologize and explain to them that I was afraid and just had to say that to try to find out the truth, because in fact, there really IS a Peter Pan...but Mommy just knew HE wouldn't move a bed!

Coming Soon to our Family...Uncle Matthew!
Well, it's happened! My baby sister is engaged!! And in true Misty fashion (even though she didn't have anything to do with the planning), it couldn't be just any ordinary engagement, it had to be memorable and extraordinary!
Misty and Matthew started dating the month I had Wyatt, and much like my baby boy they have all done a lot of growing in the past two years! He single-handedly turned my sister from an "I-don't-need-a-guy-to-make-me-happy" and "grandma-said-I-never-have-to-get-married" kind of girl, into a "I-can't-live-without-him, he's-home-to-me, I've-never-been-happier" kind of woman. He's gone from a wide-eyed "OMG that's-a-lot-of-kids" (the first time he was at a family function around all 8 of our rowdy kids) and "no-pictures-please" kind of boy, into an "I-can-handle-this-crazy-family" and "I'll-smile-for-one-or-two-so-get-it-right" and "will-you-marry-me" kind of man.
It happened in St. Mark's Square, Venice, Italy - yep, that's what I'd expect for Misty's engagement:-) And while the proposal was story book perfect from the attire, to the setting, to the ring, what I love most about Misty and Matthew is that while they have a love for the extraordinary, they both absolutely love the ordinary. Fun for them is to just hang out with each other and friends at the lake, or shoot guns, or (for Misty) to paint or decorate or landscape.
Awww, how sweet! A kiss on the cheek for our picture!
WHAT??
Love!
I couldn't be happier for the two of them, and while I'm certainly looking forward to the wedding, I'm kind of dreading the planning stage!! (think record number of possible ring bearers and flower girls) I give 50/50 odds that we end up with a bridezilla! At the end of the day though, I'm thrilled to be ending up with one more (and my final) brother. Can't wait to see what the future has in store for them!!

I'll Sleep When I'm dead!
So I haven't been posting very frequently lately. Why? Well, it could be that I spend my time after the kids are in bed working on my new business...but that isn't taking all evening. It could be that we have 6 baby bunnies and a new puppy to take care of...but that's only been the past 5 weeks or so. It could be that I'm too busy living life with my kids and Chris to document, but I'm just as busy today as I was when I started doing this. It could be that I'm on Face Book now so I get to see updates of friends lives and/or kids there and don't check here nearly as often - that actually probably has something to do with it:-) It could be that death has been all around, in my family, in my community, in my daughter's class room...deaths that shouldn't be happening and really make you sit back and think...and pray. Regardless of the reason, I've been reminded that I'm not keeping up!! So here I go!
Chris and I are going through the process right now of getting multiple bids for a remodel of his grandparent's home which we've been living in for the past 1.5+ years. I'm excited about this but the process seems to be going slower than I'd like already - not a good sign!!
May is about to be here and that means BUSY BUSY end of year stuff coming up for the kids and for us! T-ball is about to start for Addie. I need to sign Nora and Addie up for swimming this summer. Wyatt MUST be potty trained at some point in the next few months - he can totally do this, it's just a matter of not giving him a choice the little toot! May is the deadline for a really big goal I set for myself with my business and I'm going to have to get moving to reach it! I'm 3/4 of the way there, but that last 1/4 just seems to be a bit difficult!
On the plus side I did get my office painted this weekend with Misty, and it looks pretty amazing if I do say so myself! I also started doing Black Swan Yoga at home - it's pretty awesome, just go to blackswanyoga.tv and for $8 you have access to your selected instructor's "channel" which means the videos they've done. 15 minutes, 30 minutes 1 hr...there's videos to fill you needs within your time constraint!
I've been re-connecting more deeply with my faith, although it seems there are stumbling blocks along the way, a test perhaps?? (like the priest not showing up for confession the day before Easter when it was scheduled to be...I should go back, I know, but I haven't yet)
I've been prioritizing. And I guess when it comes down to it, this just wasn't a priority for a while. But I love looking back and seeing that record of my kids on older posts - so I think I should make it a priority again. Guess I'll sleep when I'm dead!

January - yep, it's March but this is about January!
January is one of my favorite months because 2 of my 3 babies were BORN this month!!
First was Wyatt on January 20th
Then Ms. Nora at the end of the month
AND we got BUNNIES!!!
January Birthdays are HARD because it's right after Christmas, and I have to admit that there weren't just a ton of gifts, but I think that's ok, as long as there's something for them to open at this age I think that's all that they care about:-) Sadly our bunnies went down in number due to an unfortunate accident, but we sure love the 2 babies we have left. We are planning on finding a new home for at least one of them, but they are so much fun right now! Right now, the little white spotted one (named Princess Sparkle...for now) will run up to the door of the cage when someone comes near:-) I think she's certainly been trained by treats!!

Christmas Season 2012
What a blast we had in December! While we did have 2 clouds hanging over our heads, for the most part December was AMAZING!! The biggest cloud was that my cousin is not well and she was often in pain - I can't describe how heartbreaking and inspiring her journey has been. We pray to God every night for her to feel better. The other cloud was the huge pressure to be working ALL THE TIME 7 days a week - this was felt more by Chris than me but I felt it too and helped as much as possible. My parents were able to help out (my mom several different times) and watch the kids and even took them away for 5 days so we could get work done. Why were we working so hard - because of the looming fiscal cliff and the unknown:-(
But we had SOOO many blessings come our way in December. The kids did great in their end of year programs. We had a narrow miss with the flu (everyone's family but mine got it when we did the Dornak side Christmas). We had great visits with all of our family. We had a great month at the office financially, AND my new business had a great month as well...and BONUS, I won another bonus! While it wasn't the Tory Burch bag I was shooting for, it is a really cute Juicy Coture tote:-) We were very blessed in 2012 and can't wait to see what 2013 holds!!
St. Mary's Christmas Program
Addie's Christmas Tap dance!
Nora's TOTs Half Time performance! She smiled ear to ear the ENTIRE time!!
Christmas Morning!
Doll house, perfect for Barbie and EVERYONE loves it - unfortunately the floor lamp that actually worked no longer works due to one of these little electricians pulling a wire:-(
He has the stance, the arm, and the weight...just not the mom who wants him to go around hitting people.
Mimi spent Christmas rehabbing her fractured pelvis - she was in GREAT spirits though!
Stockings - love Wyatt's morning hair:-)
Addie's dance after the parade!
Marketplatz decorations after the parade.
